Tailgating with Geniuses with Ken Schmidt, Martin Flaherty + Lekan Bashua on Spotify…NOW!

OMG.  Tailgating with Geniuses with Ken Schmidt, Martin Flaherty and Lekan Bashua on Spotify shows what would happen if NPR’s Fresh Air and Car Talk had a baby, that grows into triplets, that decide to start a podcast on brand and marketing for the world of business.

All without the blather, business speak or bull (well, maybe some blather and bull) but just enough to keep us entertained.

I am not a big fan of podcasts but I recommend this hands down to anyone from our clients to our industry friends and business associates.  Their extraordinary guest list and discussions will especially resonate with those of us still attempting to pull clients and businesses away from the waning strategies of the 20th century.

After a year of being exposed to bio, digital and cultural viruses, risk aversion appears to be coming back in vogue. A reactive retreat to those old familiar ways to market and brand may seem like the right move to stem the short term financial losses due to the last year, but doing so will not secure any long term benefit, financially or otherwise, if the result is fear based impatience.

Many forget that it is the newer generations of the 21st century that are the emerging leaders, and bulk of our clients AND our clients target markets.  TWG podcasts are yet another way to tap into their thinking, and a wake up call of insights to help us all gain something above and beyond the noise and fray.  This podcast provides access to the most exceptional guests and their alternative ways of thinking; and how to shed some of those fears, from those who know, and even from those who really don’t know, but have some truly provocative thoughts about it anyway that can help all of us.

I must reveal that I am a friend and industry colleague with Martin, but despite that (LOL) I am highly recommending it, and no, he did not know I am posting this review!

TWG’s accessible, unfiltered and engaging content and approach are so much more relevant right now than the myriad of redundant navel gazing and superficial business social media and podcast discussions we are inundated with daily.

The third episode Step Up. Stand Out. Kick Ass. Repeat had me laughing, crying and reconsidering some decisions and validating others, all while on a treadmill at the gym.

Embarrassing yes. But also a reminder to me of our inherent value as a strategy and design practice.  And even more so the true passion and effort required to push and reassure our clients, to push and reassure themselves, that going beyond their quarterly reports alone will get them to where they say they want and need to go, and the long term earnings and return they desire.  Stay the course!

This is an invaluable 38 minutes:

TWG Third Episode Guest – Sarah Robb O’Hagan

“CEO at EXOS, The Human Performance Company. Named among Fast Company’s “Most Creative People in Business” and Forbes’ “Most Powerful Women in Sports,” she led the reinvention and turnaround of Gatorade as its global president and led major marketing initiatives at Nike and Virgin Atlantic. Fearless, frank, and funny in talking about learning from failures and inspiring greatness. Also: Multiple surveys indicate massive shifts in worker expectations about how they work.”

Want some insight that is relevant, and not the same old subjects, I highly recommend Tailgating with Geniuses on Spotify!
